  • Is there a refund policy if my child cannot complete the program?
    As long as the program is running, no refunds will be issued if you are unable to attend for any reason.
  • What if the weather prevents me from attending?
    As long as a Born to Explore staff member can attend, no refunds will be issued based on weather. In the event that Born to Explore must cancel a session (for any reason), the daily rate amount will be issued.
  • Is there a refund if I change my mind before the program's start date?
    Refund requests made 10 days prior to the start date of the session will result in a refund minus a $65 administrative fee per participant. ​No refunds will be issued on refund requests made 9 days or less prior to the start date of the session.
  • If my child is not within the specified age range but is close to it, can I still register them?

  • What safety measures do you have in place for outdoor learning?
    Staff must have Standard Child Care First Aid and CPR. Staff must carry a first aid kit and a working cell phone All learning spaces will be scouted in advance for safety, ie.fallen branches, unsafe pathways, waste of any kind, paraphernalia. Staff will always follow the lesson plan and pre-planned pathways. Participants will be supervised and in line-of-sight at all times.
  • How many adults are present per group of children?
    Born to Explore offers small classes with a 1:6 teacher to student ratio
  • How do you handle adverse weather conditions?
    Staff are aware of and know the nearest shelter options and will have a clear evacuation route planned. At the first sign of severe weather (lightning, high winds, heavy rain), staff will lead the group calmly to the designated shelter. Staff will notify parents about the weather situation and any changes to pickup plans.
  • What should my child wear or bring to be comfortable in different weather conditions?
    Dress in layers—a moisture-wicking base, a warm middle layer (like fleece), and a waterproof outer layer. Waterproof boots and wool or synthetic socks to keep feet warm and dry. Seasonal: Warm hat, waterproof gloves, and insulated boots. Lightweight, breathable clothes, sun hat, and sunscreen. Backpack: water bottle, nutritious snacks, extra socks, light rain jacket Sun and Bug Protection: Long sleeves and pants for protection, plus insect repellent if needed.
  • Where are the programs held?
    Born to Explore will operate out of local public parks. See each program page for details.
  • How do drop-off and pick-up work?
    Parents will drop off their children at the designated green space at 9:30am. Students will be signed in manually and through the Parent communication app.
  • Are there bathroom facilities nearby, and how is this managed in a forest setting?
    Yes. Participants will be accompanied in pairs to the nearest public bathroom.
  • What happens if my child isn’t comfortable or has trouble adjusting?
    Born to Explore will always do what works best for your family. Staff will keep parents updated on how their child is doing. Parents are also welcome to join the group while their child adjusts.
